Ginger Mint Pau D'arco Detoxifying Tea.

This time of year Pau D’arco always comes to my mind as an herb to rely on for detoxification of the liver. In this recipe we are adding ginger and mint to boost not only the flavor but the health benefits as well, as both of these are allies of the digestive system.


Pau D’arco, also known as stick wood, is truly an amazing and beautiful tree from the South American tropics with a gorgeous canopy of pink blossoms.

Pau D’Arco Digestive Tea

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups water

  • 2 tablespoons Pau D’arco bark

  • 1 tablespoon of freshly grated ginger

  • ¼ cup of fresh mint leaves

  • ¼ cup lemon juice

  • Optional: Sweetener of choice – Maple syrup, sorghum syrup, etc.…

Directions:

  1. In a medium pot, combine water, Pau D’arco bark and grated ginger. Bring to a full boil with the lid on. Reduce heat and simmer for 25 minutes. Add the mint leaves. Cover and steep for 5 minutes.

  2. Pour through a strainer and allow to cool. Add lemon juice, and optional sweetener.

  3. Keep leftover tea in a clean glass bottle. Drink warm or cold.
